IMMIGRANTS (RETURN OF NUMBER OF) ENTERING NEW ZEALAND DURING PAST FIVE YEARS.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 10th August, 19:c6. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The number of immigrants that have entered this country during the past five 3'ears ; (2) the number of these immigrants that have settled in the North Island; and (3) the number that have settled in the South Island."—(Mr. Howabd.)
RETURN. (1.) The number of immigrants that have entered this country during the past five years . . 37,103 (2.) The number of these immigrants that have settled in the North Island . . . . 25,739 (3.) The number that have settled in the South Island .. .. . . .. .. 11,364 N.B. —The period during which the 37,103 (assisted) immigrants arrived is Ist April, 1921, to 31st March, 1926.
