Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to labour ; with power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. J. S. Dickson, Mr. Howard, Mr. Linklater, Sir J. P. Luke, Mr. Lye, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. McKeen, Mr. McLeod, Mr. Veitch, and the mover." —(Hon. Mr. Anderson.) Wednesday, the 18th Day of Jttly, 1923. Ordered, " That the Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill be referred to the Labour Bills Committee."— (Mr. Howard.) Thursday, the 26th Day of July, 1923. Ordered, " That the Companies Empowering Bill bo referred to the Labour Bills Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Anderson.) Tuesday, the 7th Day oe August, 1923. Ordered, " That the petition of the New Plymouth Retailers' Association be referred direct to the Labour Bills Committee."—(Mr. Smith.) Wednesday, the 15th Day of August, 1923. Ordered, " That the Inspection of Machinery Amendment Bill be referred to the Labour Bills Committee."— (Hon. Mr. Anderson.)

RBPOKTS. Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be not allowed to proceed this session. 14th August, 1923.

No. 134. —Petition of P. N. Denton, of Wellington, and 16 Others. Praytng that a clause be inserted in the Shops and Offices Act to enable jewellers' shops to remain open until 9 p.m. each evening for six days immediately before Christmas. I am directed to report that the Committee has considered the above petition and has no recommendation to make. 14th August, 1923.
