SECTION 3.— NON-NOTIEIAULK DISEASES. Measles and Whooping-cough. These two diseases, which were widely epidemic in close association during 1920, were considerably less prevalent in 1921. The number of deaths due to these causes in the year under review were respectively 47 and 49, as compared with 122 and 107 in 1920. Cancer. The following table, taken from the New Zealand Official Year-book, shows the cancer deathrate in the Dominion for the last ten years : —

Fuller information upon this subject, together with a discussion upon the causes which have contributed to the rising cancer- death-rate in the Dominion, will be found in an article by the Chief Compiler, Census and Statistics Office, in the Year-book for 1917. Venereal Diseases. The venereal clinics established in the four main centres in 1919 continue to do good work. The following table shows in concise form the results of their operations during the past year : —
