REPORTS. No. 152. —Petition of Joseph McLauOHLAN, of Auckland. Praying for reinstatement as a school-teacher. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 30th September, 1920.
No. 354 of 1919. —Petition of Herbert Rogers, of Hokianga. Praying for compensation for loss of office at the Cook Islands. I am directed to report that, while recognizing the good work done in education by Mr. Rogers at Arorangi, in Rarotonga, this Committee has no recommendation to make. 30th September, 1920.
No. 209. —Petition of the Canterbury Superannuated Teachers' Association. Prating for increase of superannuation owing to the high cost of living. I am directed to report that, as the question of increased superannuation affects all Departments and is a matter of general policy, the Committee recommends the petition be referred to the Government. 30th September, 1920.
No. 250. —Petition of Frank L. Combs, of Featherston. Praying for restitution of salary lost through reduction of grade of school. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 30th September, 1920.
No. 130.—Petition of Secondary Schools Assistants' Association of New Zealand. Praying for refund of costs awarded against them in the appeal case Searle v. New Plymouth High School Board. 1 am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 30th September, 1920.
No. 268.—Petition of F. L. Dillon and 29 Others. Praying— (a) In view of the high cost of living, that the rate of superannuation for superannuated women teachers be increased; (b) that legislation be passed to prevent the injustice of compulsory retirement at the age of fifty-live years; (c) that receipts for superannuation allowances be exempt from stamp duty. I have the honour to report — (a) That, as this is a matter of policy now under the consideration of the Government, the Committee has no recommendation to make; (b) as the Committee finds that the action of Boards is not uniform, it refers this matter to the Government for favourable consideration. isth October, .1920.
No. 115, Petition of J. D. Lynch and 12 Others; and No. 119, Petition of John Menzies and 10 Others. Praying for renewal of railway travelling-concession to teachers in Catholic schools. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th October, 1920.
No. 76. —Petition of Kitty Esther Kidson and 2 Others. Praying for adjustment of salaries paid whilst acting as assistants at the Nelson Boys' Public School. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends the petition to the favourable consideration of the Government; at the same time it is of opinion that further inquiries should be made relative to the position held by Kitty Esther Kidson. 22nd October, 1920.
