RBPOBTS. No. 476 of 1917.—Petition of the Auckland Institute and Museum Board, of Auckland. Prating for a refund of the sum of £912 175., the amount of taxation paid in respect of certain mortgages. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government lor favourable consideration. sth December, 1918.

No. 23 of Session 1, 1918.—Petition of Lillias Rarron, of Sydney. Prating for a compassionate allowance on account of her late husband's services as District Surveyor in the Lands and Survey Department. I am directed to report that the Committee endorses the previous recommendation of the Committee in 1916—namely, " The Committee is strongly of the opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that petitioner should be granted a prompt compassionate allowance "—and therefore the Committee recommends this resolution to the urgent and favourable consideration of the Government. sth December, 1918. No. 24 of Session 1, 1918.—Petition of M. J. Gannon, of Auckland. PRATING for a compassionate allowance for services rendered as Native Interpreter in the Maori War. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. sth December, 1918. No. 484 of I*9l7.—Petition of Martha M. Gill, of 17;! Anderson's Pay Road, Dunedin. Prating for further compassionate allowance on account of her late husband's faithful Government service. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee" having in view the petitioner's ignorance of the provisions of the Old-age Pensions Act, this petition should be recommended to the Government for favourable consideration. sth December, 1918. No. 357 of 1917.—Petition of Thomas Lock, of Onehunga. Prating for inquiry and compensation for loss sustained through the alleged negligence of public servants administering a Department of the State. 1 am directed to report (hat the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. sth December, 1918. No. 117 of Session 11. 1918.-—Petition of M. S. Bbalb and Another, of Auckland. Praying for inquiry into the refusal by the State Advances Board to grant a loan. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion the Government should inquire into the reasons why this loan was refused under what seems to be- very extraordinary circumstances, and recommends the petition to the Government for favourable consideration. 6th December, 1918. No. 82 of Session 11, 1918.—Petition of W. Beekman, of Dunedin. Praying for compensation on account of the death of her husband through, accident whilst demonstrating bomb-throwing at the Trentham Camp. I am directed to report that, while sympathizing with the petitioner in her misfortune, the Committee regrets it has no recommendation to make. 6th December, 1918.
