OPERATIONS OF NEW ZEALAND FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. Registrations. There wore registered during the past year 8 new societies and branches, distributed aiming the various orders as follows : H.A.C.8.5., 6 lodges ; isolated friendly societies, 2. The following registrations were cancelled by request : — M.U.1.0.0.F. : Loyal Queen of the West Lodge (Southland District). U.A.O.D. : Oraka Lodge (Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland District, New Zealand). I.F.S. : Waihi United Friendly Societies Hospital Conference. The following amalgamations were registered : -A.O.F. : Court Lady Islington with Court Stratford (Taranaki District). U.A.O.D. : Southern Oak Lodge with Acorn Lodge (Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland District). The following changes of name were registered :— A.O.F. : Court Shaldriek to Court Edith Cavell (Auckland District). U.A.O.D. :Te Awha Lodge to Northern Oak Lodge (Grand Lodge of the North Island of New Zealand). The position of the orders in respect of registration is shown by the following summary as at the beginning and end of 1917 : —
A complete list of societies and branches on the register as at the end of J 917 is given in Appendix 11. Rules. The rules of 55 societies and branches came under revision in one form or another for amendment during 1917. Complete amendments were registered during the year, viz. : — M.U.I.O.O.F.—North Canterbury District; United Westland District. A.O.F.—Court Pride of the Leith (United Otago District). W.M.C. —The Christchurch Working-men's Club and Mutual School of Arts ; Richmond Working-men's Club. 8.A.8. —Westport Garrison Artillery Volunteer Band Society. Partial Amendments of Rules registered. Partial amendments for the following were made : — M.U.I.O.O.F.—New Zealand Branch ; Hawke's Bay District; South Canterbury District (2) ; Otago District (3); Southland District (2); Loyal St. George Lodge (Southland District). 1.0.0.F.—1.0.0.F. of New Zealand (juvenile rules) ; Alfred Lodge (1.0.0. F. of New Zealand). N.1.0.0.F. —Auckland Provincial District. B.U.O.O.F.—Aorangi Lodge.
