With reference to the letter from this Department of the 15th December last, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt to request you to inform the High Commissioner that the question of lowering the rates on magazines and newspapers to New Zealand is still engaging the attention of the Post-master-General, but that it is expected that some little time will elapse before the statistical material required for the further consideration of the matter can be collected. , I have, &c, Henry Lambert, For the Under-Secretary of State.
