Percentage of children in preparatory classes —Dominion, 36" 7 ; Wellington, 33"9. The Inspector-General of Schools has in" his E.-l report to Parliament animadverted on the increasing percentage of children in the preparatory classes and on the increase in the average ages of the children in the various standards, more especially of those in Standard I. It should therefore be satisfactory to find that in this respect the percentages and averages for this district compare favourably with those of the Dominion as a whole.
