For manurial purposes, and to generally benefit the soil, all vacant areas were sown half with crimson clover and half with oats, the crops being ploughed in when 6 in. high. As the soil was beginnig to cake badly, the above method should be of great benefit in tending to keep the soil more open. No damage has been done by hares or rabbits during the year. The daily average of men employed throughout the year is 6 - 27
