The establishment of the prison camp necessitated a considerable amount of laFour in finishing the buildings and the water-service system, in laying drains, carting huts, &c. Most of this work was satisfactorily performed by prison labour. The water-supply has so far proved adequate and otherwise satisfactory. In addition to the supply from the spring, a concrete cistern, with a capacity of 14,000 gallons, was built to collect the rain-water off the roofs of the buildings, and this supply goes a long way towards satisfying the requirements of the camp. An average daily number of 15 - 20 prisoners was employed throughout the year. R. Macßab, Assistant Forester.
