VISIT OF H.M.S. "NEW ZEALAND": TELEGRAM FROM THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.

Laid on the Table of the House by Leave.

Government House, Wellington, 12th July, 1913. Memorandum for the Hon. the Pbime Ministee. I have this morning received the following telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies : — "I have laid before the King your telegram of the 30th June, from which His Majesty has learned with great satisfaction of the exemplary conduct of the men of H.M.S. 'New Zealand' while in the waters of the Dominion. His Majesty commands me to take this opportunity of expressing his deep interest in his people of New Zealand, and his appreciation of their generosity in presenting the ' New Zealand' to His Majesty's Navy for the defence of the Empire, and his gratification that the manner in which their splendid gift is being utilized meets with their approval."
