IRON WATER-PIPES (DUTY PAID ON, AND FACTORIES ENGAGED IN MANUFACTURE OF).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 12th September, 1912. Ordered, "That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The total amount of duty paid at each of the ports of New Zealand, under the Tariff Act of 1907, up to the 31st March last, on wrought-iron or steel waterpipes exceeding 6 in. in diameter, and their fittings ; (2) the total amount of duty paid at each of the ports of New Zealand, under the Tariff Act of 1907, up to the 31st March last, on cast-iron pipes exceeding 9 in. in diameter, and their fittings; and (3) the number of factories engaged in the manufacture of spiral steel water-pipes, with the number of men employed at each on their manufacture apart from laying, together with the total wages paid thereon per annum." —(Mr. Buchanan.)
Return showing—(1) Amount of Duty paid at each Port in New Zealand, under Tariff Act, 1907 (and Customs Duties Act, 1908), on Wrought-iron or Steel Water-pipes exceeding 6 in. in Diameter, and their Fittings; (2) the Total Amount of Duty paid at each of the Ports of New Zealand up to the 31st March last on Cast-iron Pipes exceeding 9 in. in Diameter, and their Fittings; (3) the Number of Factories engaged in the Manufacture of Spiral Steel Water-pipes, with the Number of Men employed at each on their Manufacture apart from Laying, together with the Total Wages paid thereon per Annum.
