" manufactured articles." A uniform classification of articles by groups, on the lines adopted in the Trade Returns of the United Kingdom, would considerably augment the value of the returns. It may be remarked that the recommendations laid before the Conference of 1907, and submitted for the consideration of the Governments of the various parts of the Empire, have, on the whole, received very favourable consideration and that a large measure of success has attended the efforts made to bring about greater uniformity. A Statement is annexed showing the results of' the communications which have passed with reference to the points submitted in the Note laid before the Conference of 1907 on the matter referred to in the foregoing observations.
