With reference to your despatch, No. 63, of the 30th March, I am desired to convey to your Lordship the thanks of the Government of New Zealand for the services rendered by H.M.S. " Pioneer " in assisting the passengers and crew of the steamship " Waikare," and to express my Government's appreciation of the manner in which these services were performed.
