The total number of graduates (exclusive of ad eundem graduates) admitted up to the 31st December, 1909, was 1,450. The Cecil Khodes Scholarship was awarded by the special committee of selection to K. Sisam, Auckland University College. The degree of Doctor was granted this year in two branches. There were no Bachelors of Agriculture, Music, or Dentistry. The degree of Doctor of Music, and the degrees of Bachelor of Agriculture, Bachelor of Dentistry, and Bachelor of Veterinary Science have not yet been granted at all by the University; in regard to the last two, it may be mentioned that the School of Dentistry has not been in operation long enough to allow this to be done, and the proposed Veterinary School at Dunedin has not yet been opened. The necessary grants for buildings and maintenance (£3,000 and £1,200 a year respectively) have, however, been promised by the Government,-and before long, no doubt, the Veterinary School will be in operation.
