Grafton Road. —A section has been taken for a station. Aratapu, Dargaville, Epsom, Rotorua, Waihi, Grey Lynn, Ponsouby, Mercer, Birkenhead, Rawene, Cambridge, Kawakawa, Otorohanga, Katikati. —Repairs, painting, renovations, draining, &c, have been carried out as needed. Post-offices. Auckland Chief Office. —General repairs done; alterations made in parcels office, despatchingroom, and telegraph operating-room; basement ventilated, &c. A new office is to be erected on the Queen Street frontage of the Railway-station shortly. Cambridge and Devonport. —New brick post-offices have been erected. Newmarket. —A new brick post-office is in course of erection. Waipu and Te Awamutu. —New 7 wooden offices have been erected. Clevedon, Birkenhead, Matakohe, and Howick. —New wooden offices are being erected. Rotorua and Paeroa. —Contracts for enlarging have been carried out at each. Waihi, Kihikihi, Raglan, and, Rotorua. —Additions contracts are in hand. Sites for post-offices have been secured in Upper Symonds Street and Wellesley Street East, Auckland. The old Post-office building and site at Parnell have been handed over to the Parnell Borough Council. Otahuhu, Coromandel. Onehunga, Waiwera, Newton, Thames, Hamilton, Katikati, and Whakatane.—Repairs, painting, renovations, furniture, &c, have been attended to. Native Schools. At Tokikuku, Wharekawa, Matauri Bay, and Waikare new schools and residences have been erected. At Te Matai, a new class-room; at Taumarunui, additions to school; at Whangaruru, additions to teacher's residence and school; at Tautoro, additions to school; at Poroporo, a new classroom; and at Ohaeawai, painting and a new shelter-shed, have respectively been carried out. Tenders were also called for school and residence at Otamatea. Industrial School. Mount Albert. —Repairs and maintenance attended to. Miscellaneous, Government House, Auckland. —His Excellency occupied this building during part of the year. Repairs, maintenance, furniture, &c, have been attended to; lodge renovated; caretaker's cottage built; winter tennis-court formed; and carriage-drive round back of the building made. Quarantine Station, Motuihi. —Buildings repaired; new wharf being built. Bath Buildings, Rotorua. —The contract for these buildings has been completed, mineral-water fittings installed, electric light laid on, drainage done. The buildings are now ready for use. Cambridge Sanatorium. —Considerable alterations to the office, sitting-rooms, bath-room, nurses' bedrooms, are in hand. A concrete dairy has also been erected. St. Helens Maternity Home. —Minor repairs and improvements have been carried out. Government Insurance Buildings, Auckland. —General internal renovations have been carried out by the Public Works staff. Ponsonby Hall has been papered and painted, and some seats added. Visit of American Fleet. —Annexe at Government House erected; alterations to Drill Hall made; and dais erected on Queen Street Wharf. Dominion Day. — The principal Government buildings w-ere decorated, and Departmental Buildings illuminated. Poverty Bat District. Departmental Buildings. Gisborne. —Repaired and maintained. Agricultural Department. Gisborne. —Residence for Stock Inspector erected in Gisborne. Courthouses. Tolago Bay. —A new building has been erected. Police-stations. Waipiro. —Additions have been made. Gisborne. —Sergeant's and single men's quarters renovated. Port Awanui. —New cells and conveniences erected. Post-offices. Tolago Bay. —Tenders for alterations are being obtained. Tokomaru. —Repairs and maintenance attended to. Port Awanui. —Tenders were advertised for, but none received. Gisborne. —A high-pressure fire service was installed, and other small additions made.
