KAURI-TIMBER INDUSTRY IN THE NORTHERN COUNTIES (PARTICULARS RELATING TO THE).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 4th July, 1907. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The estimated quantity of kauri timber held by the Crown in each of the northern counties ; (2) the quantity of standing kauri timber on Crown lands held by each of the sawmilling companies and individuals in the same localities ; (3) the number of mills owned by these persons and engaged in the cutting of kauri in each of the counties, the number of hands employed therein, and the total quantity and value of the output of these mills for the year 1906 ; (4) the total quantity and value of kauri timber exported during last year, also the quantity and value of the same timber landed at Lyttelton."— (Mr. Stallwoethy.)
