EDUCATION: MAORI SCHOOL-CHILDREN IN THE SOUTH ISLAND.
(MAORI CHILDREN ATTENDING SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH ISLAND AND STEWART ISLAND, AND THE NUMBER WHO PASSED THE SIXTH STANDARD IN 1903.)
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the sth October, 1904. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing (1) th- total number of Maori and half-caste childr. n, and children of more nearly Maori than European descent, who are at present attending Native, public, or other schools throughout the South Island and Stewart Island ; and (2) the number of such children who passed the Sixth Standard last year."—(Mr. Pabata.)
