Petitionees pray for investigation into the will of the late Eawinia Tukeke, by which they allege they have been deprived of certain lands in the Porangahau district. I am directed to report that, as this matter has already been dealt with this session, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 29th September, 1902.

No. 193, 1902.—Petition of Kipa te Whatanui. Petitioner alleges that his lands—Pahianui No. 3 and Waerenga No. 7a Blocks, Otaki district— have been wrongfully taken from him under mortgage deeds, the completion of which he denies. He now prays for restitution. I am directed to report that, as the matter referred to was so exhaustively gone into and settled last session, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 29th September, 1902.

Final Eepobt.

I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on Friday last, 26th September, 1902. Including twenty-seven brought forward from last session, eighty-nine petitions were before the Committee. Of these, thirty-one were considered and reported on ; the remaining fifty-eight, as per schedule attached, are unavoidably held over. The West Coast Settlement Eeserves Act Amendment Bill was also received for consideration and duly reported on. I have also to report that the Committee, at the conclusion of the business for the session, passed unanimous votes of thanks to the Chairman, the clerk (Mr. Hackworth), and the interpreter (Mr. Barclay). 29th September, 1902.
