"THE GOVERNMENT VALUATION OF LAND ACT, 1896" (PARTICULARS AS REGARDS VALUATIONS UNDER).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 26th October, 1898. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return giving the following particulars: (1) The prinoipal local authorities upon which claims have been made for one-tbird cost of valuation under ' The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896'; (2) the proportion of such claims referable to (a) cost of Valuers, (b) cost of Supervising Valueis, (c) office charges, (d) any other expenses; (3) the capital value, as assessed under the Act, in each of the districts of the several principal local authorities ; (4) the total cost of the valuations so in part charged to the principal local authorities ; (5) the balance of the total cost charged to other local authorities; (6) the grand total, show'ng the cost of the valuations to date of assessment." —(Mr. G.
