PATENTS, DESIGNS, AND TRADE MARKS. (NINTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE REGISTRAR.)

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to Section 128 of "The Patents Designs, and Trade Marks Act, 1889."

In pursuance of the provisions of " The Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks Act, 1889," I have the. honour to present the annual report on the business of the Patent Office for the year ending the 31st December, 1897. The returns and tables printed in the Appendix to this report show that the business of the office still continues to increase. The total number of applications received during the year was 1,492. and the total revenue £3,183 9s. The surplus of revenue over expenditure was £2,608 13s. 10d. P.
