No. 462, 1895.—Petition of Henare Tikitini and 11 Others. Petitioners pray for a rehearing in connection with the Pokuru Block, part of the Eohepotae. I am directed to report that, as the decision of the Native Land Court affects the kaingas and burial-grounds of the dead relatives of the petitioners, the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration; and, if after inquiry it is found that the petitioners have good grounds for their complaint, it is recommended that legislation be introduced to give them relief. 9th July, 1896.

Ngatitoa Trust Bill. The Native Affairs Committee, to whom was referred the above-mentioned Bill, have duly considered the same and recommend that it be allowed to proceed, subject to the amendment as shown on a copy of the Bill attached hereto. 14th July, 1896.

Petitioners allege that the Waokena Block was granted to Hone Pihama in error, it having been originally set aside for them as a fishing reserve ; they pray that it may be returned to them. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 16th July, 1896.

No. 504, 1895.—Petition of P. Barkeb. Petitioner, who has interests in Poututu, Makauri, Taruheru, and Tahoka Blocks, which are directly adverse to the interest of one William Henry Tucker, of Gisborne, who is petitioning Parliament for legislation in connection with the same, prays that the House will not permit the passing of any measure or of any clause in the Native Land Bill which may prejudicially affect his said interests. I am directed to report that, as the subject-matter of this petition was dealt with last session, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 16th July, 1896.
