No. 485, 1895.—Petition of Te Ahieau Waitai and 2 Others. Petitionees pray that a further investigation may be held into the ownership of part of the Kawhia Block, known as Paringatai. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. Bth July, 1896.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, kite whakaaro a tenei Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria paitia. 8 o Hurae, 1896.

No. 486, 1895.—Petition of Kapua Maihi and Five Others. Petitionebs allege that there is a balance of purchase-money due on Te Kauri (Waitaia Block) Mercury Bay District; and they pray that the same may be handed over to them. I have the honour to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. Bth July, 1896. No. 641, 1894.—Petition of Maeaea Nukai and 6 Others. Petitionees pray that an agreement to reserve portions of the Ahuriri Block, made when the sale to the Government took place, may be confirmed. I am directed to report that, as no papers have been placed before the Committee for its guidance, it is recommended that the Government should refer the matter to the Stipendiary Magistrate at Napier for inquiry. 9th July, 1896.

No. 229, 1895. —Petition of Eewita Niwa and 48 Others. Petitionebs complain that too much land was taken by the Government to cover the expense of surveying the Oamaru Block (Opotiki District). They pray for compensation or other relief. 1 am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 9th July, 1896.
