No. 490.—Petition of Wi Mahuei te Mataitaua and 2 Others. Petitionebs allege that the decisions of the Native Land Court in the matter of Aorangi Block were unjust to them. They pray for a further hearing. I have the honour to report that, as this matter has already been reported on this session, (see report on Petition No. 93, dated 28th July, 1893) and there being no fresh evidence in support of the prayer of petitioner, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 22nd September, 1893. No. 522.—Petition of Ihaia Taueki and 75 Others. Petitionebs pray that alienation of any portion of the Horowhenua Block may be stopped until the disputes as regards the alleged Trust are settled. I have the honour to report that the Committee, having dealt with a similar petition this session, have no further recommendation to make. No. 495.—Petition of Habe Eeweti Eongoeongo and 29 Others. Petitionees allege that a portion of their reserve at Ohinepuhiawe, Manawatu, has been cut off through a change in the Eangitikei Eiver, and that the Europeans at Bulls are endeavouring to secure the same as a recreation-ground. They pray for relief. I have the honour to report that there is some doubt as to whether the Natives have been deprived of any land, and as this can only be set at rest by a survey, the Committee recommends that a proper survey be made, and the whole matter be considered by the Government. 28th September, 1893.
