I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26th March, with regard to vessels leaving ports in New Zealand with deck-cargoes, and to beg that you will be good enough to express to the Secretary of State for the Colonies the thanks of the Committee of Lloyds for his Lordship's action in this matter. I may add that the substance of the communication from the Governor of New Zealand, a copy of which the Secretary of State for the colonies has been good enough to forward, has been 4 communicated to those who brought this matter under the notice of the Committee of Lloyd's.
