I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, the above-mentioned petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.

I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government. At the same time, they would call attention to the report on Petition No. 134 of 1888, of the same petitioner (1.-3, 1888, p. 12).

No. 391, 1891, Sess. ll.—Petition of Timoti Karetai and Others (No. 1). Petitionebs pray that a certain road in the Karitu Block may be proclaimed a public road and opened up at once. I am direected to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government to take immediate steps to comply with the prayer of the petition. 21st August, 1891.

No. 84, 1891, Sess. ll.—Petition of Ebueba Whakaahu. Petitioneb prays that the Crown grant for the Okirae Block be amended in order to free a piece of land wrongfully included, and that the said piece of land may be adjudicated upon by the Native Land Court. I am directed to report as follows : The petitioner states that a piece of land to the south-west of the Okirae Block, between the Whangaehu and Turakina Eivers, containing about 120 acres, has not been adjudicated upon by the Native Land Court; that the said piece of land has been included in a Crown grant issued for the Okirae Block, although it was part of another block called Kiato. As there appears to be some irregularity or mistake made by exempting this piece of land from the operations of the Native Land Court, the Committee refer the petition to the Government for inquiry, and, if found to be as stated, recommend that immediate steps be taken to rectify the error. 21st August, 1891.
