PROSECUTIONS BY STOCK DEPARTMENT FOR NEGLECTING TO DESTROY RABBITS.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 17th June, 1891. Ordered, " That a return be laid before this House showing the number of prosecutions which have taken placethroughout the colony since the Ist January last in connection with the Stock Department for neglecting to destroy rabbits, giving details as to dates of prosecution, where cases were tried, names of Magistrates, names of Inspectors who laid informations, names of parties prosecuted, residences of same, and the result of the prosecutions; also a statement showing the number of prosecutions instituted by the department during the same period but subsequently withdrawn, stating by whose authority the prosecutions were commenced, who gave instructions for the withdrawal of the same, and the reasons for so doing."—(Mr. Valentine.)
