4. Instruction in elementary science, specially adapted to the requirements of the Educational Department, and in agricultural science, have been given, by means of lectures and work in the laboratories, to teachers employed by the Board of Education, and to others. 5. The persons who attended term lectures in 1890 were 147 —viz., sixty-three male and eightyfour female. Of these, the graduates were four—viz., three male and one female ; undergraduates forty-six—viz., twenty-nine male and seventeen female; and non-matriculated students ninetyseven—viz., thirty-one male and sixty-six female. 6. Lectures of a more popular character on scientific subjects have been delivered, and have been numerously attended. 7. In the year 1890 the degree of B.A. in the University of New Zealand was awarded to five students of this College, four of whom obtained senior scholarships of the University out of a total of five such scholarships awarded. 8.
