I duly received your telegram of the 21st [vide page 4, F.-l, 1890], directing me to bring various questions before the Imperial Government in relation to the New Zealand mail-services, and I replied that I would see Mr. Eaikes on the subject. He has appointed a meeting with me this evening at the House of Commons, but I shall not be able to report by this mail what will have passed between us.
