same session two courses of lectures on "Elementary Science" (miscellaneous) were delivered" by Professor Brown to teachers employed by the Auckland Board of Education. The number of teachers who attended these lectures was 62. 7. The total number of persons who attended lectures of this College in the year 1885 was 179. The graduates who attended term lectures were 5, viz., 4 males and 1 female; the undergraduates who attended term lectures were 18, viz., 11 males and 7 females,; and the non-matriculated students who attended term lectures were 34, -nay -21 males and 13 females: total of those who attended term lectures, 57, viz., 36 males and 21 females. The persons other than the above who attended the lectures for teachers wereis2, viz.,, 35 males and'l7 females; and the persons other than the above who attended the lectures for artisans were 70. The total number of students connected with the College in 1885 was 205, viz., persons who attended lectures, 179; and undergraduates exempted from attending lectures, 26, viz., 20 males and 6 females. 8. In the year 1885 the students of this College who passed at examinations for degrees were 5, viz., M.A., with first-class honours, 1 (Miss C. E. M. Harrison); 8.A., 2 ; and first section of 8.A., 2. 9. The number of graduates of the University of New Zealand whose names are on the College register, and, who are therefore entitled to vote in the election of members of the College Council, is &\ present 19, viz., 17 males and 2 females. Of this number, 8 are ad eundem gradum. 10. No payments other than the fees, which are perquisites of the lecturers and the examiners, are made to the College by the students. 11. By "The Auckland University College Eeserves Act, 1885," four blocks of land, containing in the aggregate upwards of 30,000 acres, are vested in the College Council. The greater portion of these lands is of an inferior description. From one of the blocks, at Taupiri, which contains coal, the sum of £605 has been paid to the Government and transferred to the College Council. From the other reserves no revenue has been hitherto derived. 12. The College Council expends £100 per annum in scholarships; and two (science) scholarships, each of £100 per annum, entitled the Sinclair and Gilles Scholarships, have been endowed by Mr. Justice Gillies. ■..'. 13.
