TAEANAKI. Sie,— New Plymouth, 26th March, 1885. In compliance with Circular No. 84/17, dated 3rd January, 1885, I have the honour to report that very few new leases have been granted, and some have had to be cancelled on account of the failure of the lessees. The sections 40 and 42, at Patea, divided into building allotments as stated in my last report, are still in an unsatisfactory state The operations during the year have been chiefly confined to transfers and the renewal of leases. The arrears at the end of the year will always be large, so many of the rents becoming due in December and not being paid until the following January. T. King, Chairman.
