a good knowledge of the rules c mathematical subjects, but are deficient in independence of bit, and as a rule are unable to extend 'their knowledge , to new problems. I would recommend 'more practice in the solution of problems of, at first, an exceedingly simple character Laws of Health. — The answers to the questions on this subject were, for the greater part, moderately satisfactory, but weakness was shown in those parts of the subject where a sound knowledge of the elements of physiology is necessary A little more attention should be -paid to physiology, and the teaching of this should be as practical as possible. Geography. —The papers on this subject written by the Sixth Form were scarcely so good as might have been expected. The same questions were better answered by the Fifth Form. Form IV.a showed, on the whole, a very fair knowledge of their work. More attention might, with advantage, bo paid to physical geography and to the geography of New Zealand.
