HOSPITAL RETURNS FOR 1881.

Memorandum. The accompanying returns are compiled from the replies to a series of questions formulated by the late Dr. Skae, and addressed by him to the managing authorities of all the hospitals in New Zealand. The form adopted is that used by Dr. Roberts, of Sydney, New South Wales, in compiling the annual statistics of the hospitals in that colony. The returns will be found to contain valuable information, and to be tolerably complete: the only hospital in New Zealand which failed to furnish replies to the questions put having been that at Wanganui, although repeated applications have been made to the Secretary on the subject.
