N.B.—By " The Patents Act Amendment Act, 1881," the cost of obtaining Letters Patent has been reduced (if there is no opposition) to £10, £1 of which is payable on lodging the application, £2 on obtaining the Letters Patent any time before the expiry of the six months' protection, and £7 at or before the expiration of the fifth year. The advertising the day of hearing is now done by the Patent Office, without cost to the applicant.
