I have the honor to inform you that a desire has been expressed in the House of Commons for information respecting the usual hours of meeting and adjournment, and the general duration of the sittings of the Representative Chambers, in the more important foreign and colonial Legislatures, and the period over which the sessions of those Legislatures ordinarily extend. I shall be obliged by your supplying me with these particulars in relation to the House of Representatives of New Zealand, and that you will transmit me a copy of the Standing Orders of that House, and any information respecting the working of the cloture, or any analogous mode of abridging or summarily terminating discussion, which may have been established.
