NEW ZEALAND GROWN TIMBER (RETURN SHOWING QUANTITY OF, SAWN DURING YEAR 1878, AND HALF-YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE, 1879).

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.

Note. —No returns were received of the timber cut during 1878, and half the year 1879, at 19 mills. The quantities cut during 1877 have been taken from the Census Returns and entered as for the year 1878 in these cases. The total amount for the year thus estimated was 18,355,310 feet. The quantities cut for the half-year of 1879 at the 19 mills have also been estimated by means of the Census Returns, taking half the quantity cut in 1877 iv each case. Wm. E. E.
