I need hardly say that this substantial recognition of my services is extremely gratifying to me. "While I value very highly this expression of approval on the part of the Government, I feel bound however to acknowledge, that for any success that has attended the local administration of aflairs in this district, I am greatly indebted to the sympathy and support so freely accorded to me on all occasions by yourself and his Honor the Superintendent.
