Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Friday, the Bth Day of July, 1949 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of nine members, to consider all matters relating to school-teachers, education, and public instruction generally, training of publicschool teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Algie, Mr. Bodkin, the Rev. Mr. Carr, Mr. Freer, Mr. Oram, Mr. Petrie, Mr. Rae, Mr. Wilson, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. McCombs.) Thursday, the 15th Day of September, 1949 Ordered, " That the Education Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House."—(Rev. Mr. Carr.) Wednesday, the 21st Day of September, 1949 Ordered, " That the Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill be referred to the Education Committee."—(Hon. Mr. McCombs.)
REPORTS
No. 43—Petition of R. G. Mason (Representing the Auckland Returned Services Association) Praying for relief on behalf of ex-servicemen law students who have been disadvantageously affected by the termination of war concessions in examinations. I have the honour to report that the Committee has carefully considered the petition, and recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, but since any action will be for the New Zealand University, the Committee asks that the Government acquaint the Registrar with this decision, 21st September, 1949.

Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered the Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown in the copy of the Bill hereto annexed. ... ... Clyde Carr, Chairman. 28th September, 1949.
