REPORTS

Dunedin Waterworks (Silverstream Supply) Extension Bill I HAVE the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Dunedin Waterworks (Silverstream Supply) Extension Bill, and recommends that, so far as it affects the rights and prerogatives of the Crown or public reserves, the Bill be'allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy thereof hereto annexed. sth September, 1945.

Parliamentary Paper No. 34 (Notice of Intention to issue an Order in Council CHANGING THE PURPOSE OF PORTIONS OP A RESERVE IN THE BOROUGH OP TIMARU, Canterbury Land District) I have the honour to report that, after hearing- evidence, the Lands Committee recommends that the proposed change of purpose of portions of a reserve in the Borough of Timaru, Canterbury Land District, as set forth in parliamentary paper No. .34 lie not approved. 12th October, 1945,

No. B.—Petition of W. Ramsay and Another, of Timaru Praying that the proposal to alienate portions of Timaru Park be not proceeded with. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 12th October, 1945.

Napier Harbour Board and Napier Borough Enabling Bill 1 have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Napier Harbour Board and Napier Borough Enabling Bill, and recommends that the Bill, as amended by the Local Bills Committee, be allowed to proceed with the further amendment shown on the copy thereof attached hereto. 21st November, 1945.

No. 17.—Petition of A. T. McSherry, of Carnell Street, Napier Praying for compensation for loss of land and for refund of portion of rates. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered this petition and has no recommendation to make. 21st November, 1945.

Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 23rd November, 1945.

Valuation of Land Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Valuation of Land Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 23rd November, 1945.

Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 28th November, 1945.

No. 93.—Petition of L. C. Pender, of Martin Avenue-, Mount Roskill, Auckland, Schoolmaster Praying for relief in respect of the operation of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for' most favourable consideration. E. P. Meachen, Chairman. sth December, 1945.

Special Report I have the honour to report that at its final meeting for the session the. Lands Committee unanimously passed the following resolution:— " That this Committee places on record its appreciation of the capable manner in which the Chairman, Mr. E. P. Meachen, has conducted the business of the Committee throughout the session, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." E. B. K. Gordon, Member of the Committee. sth December, 1945.
