In addition to these successes, 1 passed for Diploma of Honours, 3,583 candidates passed sections of the examinations for degrees or for admission to professions ; 190 gained certificates of proficiency. There were 350 candidates (including bursary candidates) for the Entrance Scholarship Examination, 36 gaining scholarships, 93'|" others passing the examination with credit, and 20 qualifying for University Entrance. The number of entrants for the University Entrance Examination was 5,255, of whom 2,588 passed the examination. 275 candidates entered the University Entrance. Examination to gain a further qualification, and of these 210 passed. t Two of these were awarded Taranaki Scholarships.
