ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 2nd Day of August, 1929. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all Bills specially dealing with the revision of the law ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Barnard, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Broadfoot, Mr. Field, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. Mason, the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, the Hon. Mr. Downie Stewart, Mr. Wilkinson, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Wilfobd.) Wednesday, the 11th Day of September, 1929. Ordered, " That the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Mr. Mason.) Wednesday, the 9th Day of Octobeb, 1929. Ordered, " That the Law Practitioners Amendment (Solicitors' Fidelity Guarantee Fund) Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Wilford.)
REPORTS. Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Bill. Ths Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Bill, has the honour to report that it has carefully considered the Bill, and recommends that it be not allowed to proceed. 2nd October, 1929. —
Law Practitioners Amendment (Solicitors' Fidelity Guarantee Fund) Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above Bill, has carefully considered the same, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown in the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 21st October, 1929.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that during the present session the Statutes Revision Committee, consisting of ten members, has held four meetings, the average attendance of members at each meeting being six. Two Bills—namely, the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Bill and the Law Practitioners Amendment (Solicitors' Fidelity Guarantee Fund) Bill—were considered by the Committee and reported to the House. 7th November, 1929.
