ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the, Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 14th Day of July, 1922. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to such other matters affecting public health as may be referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Craigic, Mr. Field, Mr. Hookly, Mr. Mitchell, Dr. A. K. Newman, Mr. Parry, the Hon. Sir M. Pomare, Mr. Reed, Dr. Thacker, and the mover." —(Hon. Mr. Pake.) Thursday, the 7th Day or September, 1922. Ordered, " That the Pharmacy Amendment Bill be referred to the Public Health Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Pake.)
REPORTS. No. 158, Petition of T. G. Johnson and 944 Others ; and No. 159, Petition of A. Mokomoko and 436 Others, of Opotiki. Praying that a separate hospital district be constituted, to operate within the county and borough of Opotiki. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, consideration of this petition should be held over until such time as the Minister of Health is able to visit the district and inquire into all the "facts. sth October, 1922.
No. 216. —Petition of G. Stuart Moore and 170 Others, of Auckland. Praying that steps be taken to induce or compel the Auckland City Council to cease proceeding with the erection of a crematorium on the intended site at Waikumete. I am directed to report that the Committee, having considered this petition, has no recommendation to make. stb October, 1922.
Pharmacy Amendment Bill. The Public Health Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that it has carefully considered the same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy attached hereto. sth October, 1922.

No. 294. —Petition of Ernest Alexander Ozanne, of Sydenham. Praying that a reduction be made in the dental-examination fees, or alternatively that he may be licensed to practise dentistry. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the University fees for the dental examination are excessive, and should be reduced by one-half ; that the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration of this point. 10th October, 1922.
No. 149. —Petition of Beatrice Mary Buckingham, of Wellington. Praying that compassionate allowance be granted as compensation for injuries received while an inmate at St. Helens Hospital. I am directed to report that the Committee, having carefully considered this petition, has no recommendation to make. 28th October, 1922.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its high sense and deep appreciation of the oapable and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P., has presided over the deliberations of the Health Committee, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. 28th October, 1922. J. Craigie, Acting-Chairman.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its high appreciation of the services of the clerk, Mr. F. E. Tomlinson, for the able manner in which he has carried out the duties which have been entrusted to him, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. 28th October, 1922. J. Final Reeori. I have the honour to report that the Committee held eight meetings ; one Bill and six petitions were referred to the Committee, all of which were considered and reported to the House. 28th October, 1922. J. Craigie, Acting-Chairman.
