BAKERIES AT MILITARY CAMPS (RETURN RELATIVE TO).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 16th July, 1920. Ordered, '-That there be laid before this House a return showing —(1) The average cost per pound of bread produced in the bakeries attached to the military camps at Trentham and Featherston respectively during the whole period of their operations; (2) the average number of journeymen bakers employed who received full tradesmen's wages; (3) the average number of assistants or orderlies employed who received military pay only; (4) the capital expenditure in connection with the installation of the bakeries; (5) the cost of flour and other food commodities used; (6) the cost of fuel; (7) all other charges in connection with the installing of the ovens, the erection of the bakeries, and the production and delivery of bread from the two military bakeries; and (8) the estimated total amount of the saving achieved by the Defence Department by installing its own bakeries."—(Mr. Eraser.)
