Native Land Amendment Bill. Owing to the lateness of the session the Committee was not able to consider the Bill, therefore it recommends that it be not allowed to proceed. 27th October, 1917. Special Report. The Native Affairs Committee has the honour to report that at the final meeting of the Committee, held this morning, the following resolution was unanimously carried : — " That the Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the ability, tact, and courtesy displayed by the Chairman, Mr. J. A. Young, at the meetings of the Committee; that this resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House." 27th October, 1917. [Translation.] Ripoata Motuhake. Final Report. I HAVE the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on Thursday, the 25th day of October. During the session the Committee met on 52 occasions, with an average attendance of 8. Including 74 brought forward from last session, the Committee had before it 198 petitions. Of these, 100 were considered and reported on, and the remaining 98 are held over until next session. Upon 43 the Committee reported favourably, upon 56 it had no recommendation to make, and 1 was withdrawn. The following Bills were referred to the Committee, were duly considered and reported upon, viz. : Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Bill, Native Land Amendment Bill, 1917, and the Whangarei Harbour Vesting Bill. Might parliamentary papers were referred to the Committee, and were duly considered and reported upon. The total number of reports presented to the House was 110. 27th October, 1917.
