PRISONS BOARD (RETURN RELATIVE TO).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 2nd October, 1917. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The number of persons comprising the Prisons Board; and (2) the annual oost of the Board to the Dominion, cost to include salaries of any officials who may accompany the Board on any tour of inspection."—(Mr. Thomson.)

Return showing the Number op Persons comprising the Prisons Board, and the Annual Cost op the Board to the Dominion. (1.) Number of persons comprising the Prisons Board : Seven. (2.) Annual (average) cost of the Board to the Dominion : £320. Note. —Any officials who may accompany the Board are paid in respect of other offices held by them in the Public Service, and not in connection with the Board. Unofficial members of the Board receive no remuneration for their services, but are paid travelling-allowance at the rate of £1 Is. per day and locomotion expenses. C. B. Jordan, Under-Secretary.
