Filling operations ... ... ... ... ... 67,536 Root-filling operations ... ... ... ... 7,568 Root-dressing operations ... ... ... ... 5,985 Scaling operations ... ... ... ... 5,664 Extraction operations ... ... ... ... 33,441 Crowning operations... ... ... ... ... 41 Dentures ... ... ... ... ... ... 9,039 Dentures'repaired ... ... ... ... ... 1,185 Sundry operations ... ... ... ... ... 48,402 Attendances ... ... ... ... ... 81,884 In furnishing the above information the Director of Dental Services reports as follows : — As approximately 26,000 men passed through camp during that period, the proportion of soldiers requiring treatment will thus be seen to be very large, particularly when it is remembered that over and above the work of the Dental Corps a large amount of treatment is accorded by civilian dentists prior- to the soldiers' entry into camp. It may be fairly assumed that the large amount of treatment accorded will have a most beneficial result upon the health of the soldier not only in respect to aiding him to more easily masticate his food, thereby assisting his digestive organs, but also in ensuring a healthy mouth and eliminating to a large extent the carrying of organisms, which may tend to the spread of disease, which accumulate and proliferate in carious teeth.
