ORDER OP REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Fbiday, the 19th Day ov May, 1916. . Ordered, " That Standing Order No. 219 be suspended, and that a Goldrields and Mines Committee be appointed, consisting of thirteen members, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to mining and all Bills relating to mines ; with power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Bollard, Mr. Colvin, Hon. Mr. Eraser, Mr. Hudson, Mr. Lee, Mr. Poland, Mr. T. W. Rhodes, Mr. Scott, Mr. Seddon, Mr. W. Stewart, Mr. Walker, Mr. Webb, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Mac Donald.)
REPORTS. No. 205.—Petition of Alexandeb Mackay, of Auckland. Pkaying for a reward for having first discovered gold at Waihi. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that the petitioner be recommended for compassionate allowance. sth August, 1916.
Special Eepoet. I am directed to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee desire to place upon record its appreciation of the able and tactful manner in which the Chairman (Mr. E. Scott) has discharged his duties during the present session. sth August, 1916.
