ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of liepresentatives. Thursday, the Ist Day of July, .1915. Ordered, " That a Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to schoolteachers, education, and public instruction generally, public-school training of teachers, higher education, technica education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may be referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Guthrie, Mr. Hanan, Mr. Malcolm Mr McCallum, Mr. Parr, Mr. Poland, Mr. Sidey, Mr. Statham, Mr. Thomson, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Allen.)

EBPOETB. No. 227.—Petition of H. E. G. Smith and 8 Others, of Whangarei. Praying for amendment of the Public Service Classification and Superannuation Act to enable their becoming contributors to the Superannuation Fund. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 4th October, 1915.

No. 281. —Petition of James Fowler, of Takapuna, Auckland. Praying that his son may be released from St. Joseph's Industrial School, Takapuna. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. 4th October, 1915.

I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration and inquiry. 4th October, 1915.

I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th October, 1915.
