CROWN LANDS LEASED (RETURN OF) UNDER VARIOUS TENURES.
Return to an Order of the Bouse of Representatives dated the 13th day of October, 1911. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The total area of lands leased on the lease-in-perpetuity tenure under the General Land Act; (2) the total area leased on the same tenure under the Lano for Settlements Acts; (3) the total valuation of each such area at the time of leasing; (4) the total valuation of the same land at the present date, not including tenants' improvements; (5) the total area of lands leased on renewable lease under the Land for Settlements Acts; (6) the total valuation of all such lands at the time of leasing; (7) the total valuation of the same lands at the present date, not including tenants' improvements ; (8) the like particular? with regard to national endowment lands ; and (9) the like particulars with regard to lands leased under the Cheviot Land Act or any other Act."—(Hon. LIEASB-IN-PERPETUITY AND BeNEWABLE-liEASE LANDS HELD AT 3IBT MaBCH, 1911. 1. Totai. area of land leased on the lease-in-perpetuity tenure under the Land Act, 1,651,235 acres. 2. Total area of land leased on the lease-in-perpetuity tenure under the Land for Settlements Acts, 664,678 acres. 3. Capital value of lands leased on the lease-in-perpetuity tenure at the time of leasing (approximate)—under the Land Act, £1,519,319 ; under the Land for Settlements Act, £3,873,829. 4. Information not obtainable. 5. Total area of land leased on renewable lease under the Land for Settlements Act, 266,465 acres. 6. Capital value of lands leased on renewable lease under the Land for Settlements Act at time of leasing (approximate), £1,313,542. 7. Information not obtainable. 8. (a) Total area of national - endowment lands leased on renewable lease, 292,944 acres; (b) capital value of national-endowment lands leased on renewable lease at time of leasing /approximate), £325,102 ; (c) present-day value not obtainable. 9. (a) Cheviot Estate lands held under lease-in-perpetuity, 26,868 acres; (b) capital value of Cheviot Estate lands held on lease in perpetuity at time of leasing (approximate), £145,897 ; (c) present-day value not obtainable. The information respecting present-day values is not obtainable, but a fair average increase between the original value and the present-day value would be £3 per acre for ordinary Crown lands and the Cheviot Estate, and £1 per acre for land-for-settlements land.
