The oil, gas, and water power plants would be as near as possible actual brake horse-power. The steam plants show the nominal horse-power of boilers used calculated from the heating-surface. The Department has no record of the actual brake horse-power of steam-engines in use with such boilers, and this information would be difficult to get. Robert Duncan, Chief Inspector of Machinery. Inspection of Machinery Department, Wellington, Ist May, 1911.
